Tools & Addon Ecosystem
Module Overview
| Est. time | 30 minutes |
| Type | Tools |
| Prerequisites | Module 04 — Modeling from Matched Photos |
| Read first | Tools & Addon Ecosystem — the module's lesson |
Description
This module is the tool survey for the method you've now practiced: the satellite/GIS tools that feed the georeferenced anchor and the camera-matching tools that produce the matched-camera anchor. It maps each tool to its place in the pipeline so you can choose the right one for a given source set.
What You'll Be Able to Do
By the end of this module you will be able to:
- Identify the satellite/GIS tools used for the georeferenced baseline
- Identify the camera-matching tools for perspective solving
- Choose the right tool for a given source set and pipeline stage
What's Inside
This module maps tools onto the two anchors you've already established:
Phase 2: The Add-ons
The specific tools in depth
- fSpy — vanishing-point camera estimation
- Perspective Plotter — real-time matching in Blender
- BlenderGIS — satellite/elevation import
- QGIS — GIS source preparation
Tools & Addon Ecosystem
Tools & Addon Ecosystem: 5 min read
The module's lesson: the satellite/GIS tools (Anchor 1), the camera-matching tools (Anchor 2), and how they fit the pipeline.
You'll learn: The tool landscape for site reconstruction by camera matching and how to choose between tools.
fSpy
fSpy: 3 min read
The vanishing-point camera estimation tool — imports a camera solution into Blender.
You'll learn: The primary tool of the camera-matching step.
Perspective Plotter
Perspective Plotter: 3 min read
Real-time camera matching inside Blender.
You'll learn: An in-Blender alternative to the fSpy workflow.
BlenderGIS
BlenderGIS: 3 min read
Imports satellite imagery and elevation data into Blender, georeferenced.
You'll learn: The bridge from GIS data to the Blender baseline.
QGIS
QGIS: 4 min read
The desktop GIS used to source and prepare satellite/vector data before import.
You'll learn: How to prepare the geodata that feeds BlenderGIS and the baseline.
